Party like it's '92.

So I got my 45mm Real wheels from '92, I have some Venture Featherlights from '92 on their way to me, and I have a Big Mess "Bill the Cat" deck (like a '92 football shape) on it's way to me too. I'll have some Puma's and I'll be pressure flipping in no time. I'm really excited to get this set up and skate it. I haven't skated anything but a modern popsicle shape since that shape became the norm.

What were we thinking???

Me, myself, and I. I'm going to, eventually, do a very small run of decks....hand silkscreened by myself....on quality hand crafted USA made decks. I have no clue what'll be on the decks or what monicker they'll be under. But rest assured. They're coming.

I want to not like Elephant Brand skateboards so badly but it's hard to do that when the likes of Jason Adams and Neal Hendrix have joined the team. I'm so wishy-washy when it comes to anything Mike Vallely related. I hate his constant sponsor hopping and "outside of skateboarding" antics. But once again I find myself fully backing him and his new company. Do you hear me Mike V? DO NOT DISAPPOINT ME THIS TIME AROUND!!!

Pete Eldridge has joined the pro roster over at Cliché skateboards, seems like a good fit to me. Why not?

Review: Santa Cruz Rob Roskopp Face 2 reissue

I was ecstatic when I heard the news that SC was again reissuing the Roskopp Face 2. When they did it the first time the shape and colors were off from the OG so I refrained from getting one. You see, this here board, way back in '88 was my second ever "good" skateboard. So it holds a lot of sentimental value and I've wanted one hanging on my wall for some time now. I wasn't about to drop $800+ on an OG so I was keeping my fingers crossed on a reissue. And reissued it was. It looks spot on. The colors are great, the shape is a lot more reminiscent of the original, and the top graphic is just the plain old SC logo from back in the day. It's true to form, a reissue of the deck I skated when I was in the fifth grade. I'm anxious to see what Santa Cruz has on their plates next in the reissues category. Don't disappoint me!!! :)

This morning I put on on my Nike McCutchen t shirt and a little while later learn that today it was announced that the Pirates and McCutchen came to terms on a new 6 year contract. Score.

Thrasher and Baker skateboards announced that they'll be jointly releasing the new Baker vid titled Bake and Destroy sometime later this year for FREE with the mag and then later online as a free download. Again, score.

In a week's time I started and finished reading The Hunger Games. Incredibleness. I'm about a quarter of my way into the second book at this time. And so far it's just as good as the first installment. I'm eagerly awaiting the movie (The Hunger Games) later this month.

My wife surprised me with the Santa Cruz reissue of the Roskopp Face 2 last week. It should arrive today or tomorrow, a little review will be posted here shortly thereafter.

Welp, my basement bathroom is all done. With that out of the way I'm able to concentrate on more pressing matter. Such as, going to see Star Wars Episode 1 in 3D. And doing my darnedest to go roll around on my skateboard...weather permitting of course. In other news...I'm glad to see that Santa Cruz has finally reissued the Rob Roskopp Face 2 deck. It was the second "good" board I had and I really didn't want to save up and have to track down an OG. I'm perfectly content with a reissue as a wall hanger. When I eventually get my hands on one of them I'll post pics here for sure. Because I'm sure that anyone who reads this life would not be complete without it.

Not a whole lot has been going on. Working a lot... at work as well as at home. My friend and I have been updating our basement bathroom/shower so that's my excuse for the lack of posts here.
So as of right now I'll be attempting to get back on track. "here we go again."

I think this is a good thing. Rob's been with Alien since day one. You can say what you want about him and doing tv shows and being involved with a lot of things outside of skateboarding...he always gives back and is still a skate rat at heart. And as much as I love snowboarding, I'll always be a supporter of actual skateboarders owning skateboard companies. Kudos.

I got the newest issue of Transworld Snow in the mail yesterday, was flipping through it, and read in the news section that Lonnie Kauk severed his ties with DC and signed on with Lobster Snowboards...Woo hoo!! Lonnie's a rad guy and Lobster is a perfect fit for him in my humble opinion. News like this puts a smile on my face...awesome rider moving to an awesome company. Win win.

Christmas has come and gone...

So, Christmas has come and gone. Mike Vallely has againe quit his sponsor, Powell Peralta, and again started his own company...this time by the name of Elephant Brand Skateboards. Google it if you want to read more about it. I've personally had enough of Mike V and his sponsor hopping/starting up companies. In the coming weeks look forward to some reviews (Flux bindings, TB20 Blu Ray...) and hopefully some random randomness that'll put a smile on your face. Review: Airblaster's 'Thank You Baby.'

Fun. That's the first word that comes to mind when I think of Airblaster. I was first introduced to Airblaster when I picked up their dvd December some years back (one of my all time favorites). I've missed a lot of their videos since December, but I was lucky enough to have them send me a copy of their latest effort titled "Thank You, Baby" to check out.......and check it out I did. The main feature is short and sweet. It chronicles the travels and riding of Nick Dirks and Brandon Cocard throughout Russia...awesome stuff. I've always wanted to go to Russia, more than likely I'll never make it there in this lifetime so why not experience it vicariously through some of Airblaster's finest? I'm all for it. It looks to me like they had an incredible, once in a lifetime experience and I enjoyed taking it all in from the comfort of my own humble abode. As with the other Airblaster dvd's,
Thank You, Baby offers a lot of bonus features. My favorite is the one with Travis Parker and Leanne Pelosi shredding some pow at Baldface Lodge. Oh! And the one with Nick Dirks and Jed Anderson skating at various concrete parks is not to be slept on either, good stuff right there.
